Originally named Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Mercy General Hospital was founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Mercy. The hospital’s centers of excellence include the Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute and the Mercy Stroke Center. In 2010 Mercy General celebrates 85 years at its location at 40th and J Streets in the heart of Sacramento.
