Founded in 1895 by the Sister's of Mercy, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center was originally a six-room cottage dedicated to treating tuberculosis patients. Today, the hospital is home to the renowned Barrow Neurological Institute and has a Level I Trauma Center. The hospital is also known for its cardiology and cancer services as well as its Children's Health Center, which includes neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
