Judy Carle, RSM
Sisters of Mercy of the Americas West Midwest Community
Judy Carle, RSM, began her career of service in the education ministries of the Sisters of Mercy at schools in Burlingame, San Francisco and San Mateo, California. Following numerous years of service in leadership positions with the Sisters of Mercy Burlingame Regional Community, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and Mercy Housing, Sister Judy has returned to the field of education at Mercy High School in San Francisco.
From 1997 to 2003, Sister Judy was called to serve as President of the Sisters of Mercy Burlingame Regional Community. In this role she was responsible for promoting the mission of the community, community life and development, sponsored ministries, administration of community assets, legal and corporate functions, as well as long range and strategic planning. She previously served the Sisters of Mercy Burlingame Regional Community as Vice President. She also served as a member of the Transition Administrative Team for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, where she participated in the development of a new Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas – bringing together 25 Regional Communities having members in 12 countries to form a single Institute. Additionally, Sister Judy served as Property Supervisor for Mercy Housing, where she worked on setting up a property management company for properties owned and developed by Mercy Housing in California.
Sister Judy received a bachelor of arts degree in English from the San Francisco College for Women in California; and a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Theology from Manhattanville College in New York.
