Executive Management Team

Lloyd H. Dean is President/CEO for Catholic Healthcare West. With over 20 years in healthcare operations and leadership experience, he is responsible for overall management, strategy and direction of CHW's acute care hospitals, ancillary services, home health care and medical group foundations.

Michael D. Blaszyk is Executive Vice President, Chief Corporate Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Catholic Healthcare West. Mr. Blaszyk’s responsibilities include oversight of financial affairs and other corporate operations activities for the $10.9 billion integrated health care system.  

Derek F. Covert is SVP/General Counsel for Catholic Healthcare West. With over 28 years of experience in healthcare law and tax management and nearly 22 years with Catholic Healthcare West, He advises the Board and Management of CHW in legal matters.

Charles P. Francis is SVP/Chief Strategy Officer for Catholic Healthcare West. With over 17 years of experience in healthcare strategy, business development and consulting, he is responsible for CHW's strategic direction, market position and public policy initiatives.

William J. (Bill) Hunt has over 35 years experience in healthcare, as a practicing physician assistant, educator and administrator, he currently is the EVP and Chief Operating Officer for CHW, responsible for overseeing the operations of 22 hospitals throughout Northern California.

Bernita McTernan is SVP, Sponsorship and Mission Integration for Catholic Healthcare West. She has served CHW for 28 years in a variety of leadership capacities. In her current role, she is responsible for Sponsorship, Mission Integration, Advocacy, Ethics/Justice, Ecology, Community Benefit and Philanthropy.

Marvin O'Quinn is EVP/Chief Operating Officer for Catholic Healthcare West and is responsible for the service areas in Arizona, Nevada, and in California from San Luis Obispo south. He is also responsible for integrated process management and ambulatory operations.

Elizabeth Shih is SVP/Chief Administrative Officer for Catholic Healthcare West. With over 28 years of experience in system integration and operations, she supports the President/CEO in governance relations and supports leadership in the ongoing operations of the organization.

Ernest H. Urquhart is SVP, Human Resources for Catholic Healthcare West. He has over 20 years of experience in human resources and culture management and he is responsible for overall development and leadership of CHW's human resources strategies.

Robert Wiebe, MD, MPH, MBA, is SVP/Chief Medical Officer for Catholic Healthcare West. Dr. Wiebe leads CHW’s organization-wide clinical and patient care efforts, including quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, risk services and physician leadership development, as well as CHW’s home health services.

Benjamin R. Williams is SVP/Chief Information Officer for Catholic Healthcare West and leads the organization’s information technology efforts including strategic development and integration of advanced clinical information systems known as the EHR Alliance.

John Wray is SVP, Managed Care for Catholic Healthcare West. With over 17 years of experience in healthcare law and managed care, he is responsible for providing leadership and direction to develop and implement CHW's systemwide and local managed care strategies.
