Palliative Care

Care for the Dying

We all deserve to live—and die—with dignity. At CHW, dignity is one of our core values, and it is evident in our commitment to providing palliative care at all of our hospitals and care centers.

Palliative, or end-of-life, care is comprehensive, interdisciplinary care that focuses on promoting quality of life for patients living with a terminal illness and for their families, assuring physical comfort and psychosocial support. It is fundamental to our mission to make the final moments of life as meaningful as possible for both patient and family.

CHW hospitals support terminally ill patients and their families in many ways, from effective pain management to orchestrating life-affirming bedside ceremonies with a patient’s loved ones or providing calm and comfortable spaces near patient rooms so families can be close when a patient is dying. As caregivers and health providers, it is our job to care even when we cannot cure.

Spiritual Care

Spiritual Care

Healthy spirit, healthy body. At CHW, we incorporate them both into our standards of care and provide resources to help individuals and families draw upon their religious traditions, faith, or spirituality in facing difficult health or crisis situations.
