Community Health
Advocacy

Advocacy for those who are poor and vulnerable is a mission imperative for Catholic Healthcare West. A primary focus of our efforts to influence public policy is a call for comprehensive health care reform guided by these principles:

Universal Access:  Health care is a basic human right and should be available to all.
Stable Financing:  Financing should be sufficient to assure that access is sustainable.
Improved Quality:  An appropriate continuum of health care services should be provided in a compassionate manner while being measured and reported.
Improved Accountability:  Government should be accountable to assuring that health care is fully available, financed, improved and provided within a pluralistic system.

We also integrate our mission and values in our investment decisions and leverage our investment portfolio to promote corporate social responsibility and accountability on a range of issues that affect the broader health of the community:

  • Access to health care products and services
  • Access to capital for persons with low to moderate incomes
  • Health and safety standards for workers worldwide
  • Environmental reporting and accountability
